10th Summer Biotechnology Training Camp May – July 2018

Each year HariHar Biotech at its Agra Campus organizes Biotech Industrial Summer Training Camp in month of May – July to provide hands on training in field of Molecular Biology, Plant Tissue Culture, Microbiology and Computational Biology. We offers two sets of camps – Basic Camp for students how have very little knowledge on instrument handling, and Advance Camps designed for students who are seeking higher technical skills along with career knowledge for the future growth in biological science.

The theme of 10th Summer Camp – 2018 is “Bio Entrepreneurship – from Feasible Ideas to Innovations“.

The key issues that will be addressed and discussed during camp’s Discussion hrs will include challenges in opening technology driven new ventures; Feasible Ideas vs Research Ideas; Managing Financial matters; Government Support ; Angle & Venture Investors; real skills required in dealing with innovations; networking & team development; several growth story driven examples in biotechnology.

Starting from 2015, each year we introduces new Camp Theme. Camp Themes are especially designed for Advance Camp students to explore more and develop a holistic approach towards science & career.  These themes are designed to conduct various student’s task, video sessions and activities to develop a better understanding on the theme topic. These activities run in parallel to routine core teaching and training activities.

The main theme of 8th Camp in 2016 was “Understating Universe Evolutionary Patterns and Linking it with Biological Complex Evolution“. Under this during the complete camp students were free to discuss and explore how Universe is evolving… what enables Earth to give rise to such a complex structures Like Human Brain… How Neurons interconnect to gave thought process and so on….

The main theme of 7th Camp was Cancer Drug Discovery“, under which we discuss and work on acquiring knowledge on emerging high throughput technologies like DNA microarray / ChIP-Chip in post genomics era, elaborated concepts like SNPs Analysis, Systems Biology, Biological Robustness, Protein-protein / Protein -Drug Interaction Networks , Gene Regulatory Network designing etc.

At our yearly summer camp we try our best to teach students with real science, unlike colleges; students here are free to think and ask… we explore world with TED videos…. Molecular Cloning Techniques…. Drosophilla genetics experiments to various other similar small small scientific experiments… as the main purpose of camp is to make science understandable….

Camp Details

This Basic Camp is especially designed for B.Sc I, II / B.Tech I, II & M.Sc. I year students, who have no prior exposure to higher instrument handling; and are not confident enough in routine chemical preparations. Though anybody eager to learn on these topics is welcome to apply.

Also, these camps are designed to discuss on what are the various career & higher education options students can opt in India &  going abroad. Beside routine training activities, through these camps we strongly suggest students, which standard scientific books & internet resources in routine they must consult and read to build a strong scientific & innovation driven career going forward.

This course is designed to provide in-depth learning of living systems & deals with all three aspects (microbial, plant & animal) of cell culture. It gradually builds from basic aspects to advance topics in learning & instrument handling.

In open Q&A sessions, along with discussion on the core training camp theme (Bio Entrepreneurship this year), we share and discuss on various career & higher education prospectus in India &  abroad; and how to prepare for biotech competitive exams. Also, we strongly guide students, with importance of research publications in quality research journals with good impact factor and how to build strong and fruitful network with international scientific community to learn more on advance topics.

Though in general students will hands-on learn on Isolation and characterization of Bacteria ( Identification of unknown species based on microscopic visualization & 16s RNA molecular technique using PCR), Plant Micro-propagation Advance Aspects (anther, embryo culture) and banana micropropagation. Students will also learn on extraction of secondary metabolites from plant and plant materials and how to quantitatively & Qualitatively check their nutritive value using HPLC.

This Advance Cancer System Biology Camp is specially designed for M.Sc, B.Tech & Integrated M.Tech. Biotech, Bioinformatics & Genomics Students. Though anybody eager to learn on these topics is welcome to apply. This course is designed to provide in-depth learning of computational system biology and deals with early drug development and identification of noble bio-markers against any disease, especially Cancer using High Throughput Screening Tools like DNA Microarray, ChIP on Chip.

This course is highly beneficial for students seeking future in Genomics & Computational Biology and want to go abroad for higher studies or jobs in system biology. This is first of its type course, that specialized in computational biology and in designing Gene Regulatory Networks to explore the significance of genes working from diseased state to normal state.
